Kingston

Enjoy learning more about Kingston University, host to the conference, and the surrounding royal borough of Kingston upon Thames.

Kingston University

Kingston is one of the largest and most successful post-1992 universities in London. Spread over four different sites, it offers a diverse series of degrees across art and design, social sciences, business, economics and engineering. The Knights Park Campus is home to the Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture and thus to both practical filmmaking and fine art programmes. As such it is an intimate, relaxed, and friendly location, backing onto the Hogsmill River so conference delegates can enjoy the quiet riverside.

Kingston upon Thames*

The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames is one of only four royal boroughs in England and Wales. It is located on the banks of the River Thames, 12 miles from central London.

The river travels through the borough for almost three miles, connecting Kingston to Hampton Court, Richmond, and central London.

The borough has excellent road and public transport links to all parts of the UK so is well placed as a visitor and commercial centre.

The borough has 16 wards which combine to form four neighbourhoods:
  • Kingston Town
  • Maldens and Coombe
  • South of the Borough
  • Surbiton
The town Kingston was first recorded in royal records in the year 838. By the tenth century, Kingston had become a coronation centre where Saxon kings were crowned.

What Our Past Conferees have said . . .

"Can you even imagine anything more glorious? No. You can't."
                                                                  ---Nikki Stafford

"Slayage Conferences are excellent opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals, people who recognize the quality of Joss Whedon's work and the significant impact popular narratives have on culture."
